Introduction

We create, read, update or delete content because it has an audience. If you want to write for your lonesome, there’s no reason to use M365. There is no organization that will pay you for writing down your private notes.

This brings us to a new problem.

Content must be found

Search and metadata are the most valuable system integrators. When we manage to tag content items in a consistent way we enhance the potential of a search engine.   (regardless of their file type; pictures are as valuable as volumes of text)

Training objective

Become aware of the value that metadata offers. Learn how to administer it and learn how to configure libraries, list, and/or sites.

We will learn what boundaries the various metadata instrument have so you can make a good choice by configuration tasks.

We will also learn the concept of views. Learning that a flat structure with metadata provides much more flexibility and how you can create or manage views.

Instruments and hierarchy in metadata

During the previous exercises, we already let you make all kinds of applications related to metadata

  1. Text label
  2.  Choice
  3. Other column types
  4. Lookup

During the previous exercises, we already let you make all kinds of applications related to metadata

In this exercise, we will take a few steps further.

      • Termstore hub
      • Enterprise metadata management combined with enterprise search
Spotify, a wonderful display of metadata usage
